Check with your local building department about codes that may stipulate where exhaust fans must be installed and what sone requirements they may have.

This unit must be installed at a minimum height of 7 feet (2.1 meters) above the floor.
If there is a countertop or major appliance (e.g., dishwasher) that serves as a barrier,
this unit may be installed at a minimum height of 5 feet (1.5 meters) above thefloor.
